To celebrate the launch of Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the UK, the brand needed an eye-catching stunt that would showcase how fun the game was.
Nintendo approached Projection Advertising to create a projection that could be filmed and distributed as a viral video to promote the release of the game. Iconic London building Battersea Power Station was chosen as the projection screen and through 3D mapping technology AdTrace, the building was turned into an enormous games console. The projection turned the entire riverside aspect of the building into a giant scene from the new game featuring video mapping projections on the two chimney stacks and static slide projections filling the remainder of the facade using 500,000 lumens of light. Mario fans were treated to a sneak preview of unseen footage from the game.
The projection included footage of the building appearing to take off into the night sky before being smashed by a giant Space Worm.
